Import Customs Clearance Procedure

We can assist you with customs clearance document processing, including Form M and PAAR, to clear your goods in Nigeria’s air and sea ports. Here’s an overview of the required steps:

Process Form M: Your supplier/manufacturer will forward shipping documents, including the Bill of Lading, Final Invoice, and Packing List, to your banker in Nigeria. The bank will then forward these documents to customs, who will generate a PAAR within 2 days.

PAAR Processing: The PAAR will be transmitted to the importer’s bank for collection. A Tax Identification Number (TIN) is required to process the PAAR.

Required Documents: The following documents are required for all imports:

• Combined Certificate of Value and Origin (CCVO)
• E-form ‘M’
• Commercial Invoice
• Packing List
• Shipped/Clean on Board Bill of Lading/Airway Bill
• Manufacturer’s Certificate of Production
• Phytosanitary Certificate or Chemical Analysis Report (where applicable)
• Laboratory Test Certificate (where applicable)

Assessment and Payment: We will assist with assessment and payment of duties, including obtaining an assessment notice and making payment at customs-designated banks.

Examination and Release: We will handle examination booking, examination proper, and securing releasing stamps from various customs units.

Seaport Clearance

For seaport clearance, we will also handle:

• Issuance and payment of debit notes by terminal and shipping companies
• Obtaining shipping charges and terminal charges
• Payment of debit notes and securing release of cargo
